I get asked this question all the time – There are so many products out there, what do I really need? What is going to work best for me? While there is no simple, straight forward answer to that question, there are some common products that everyone should be using, and that are worth researching to get the best quality products you can afford.
First and foremost, Get a high quality cleanser. If you can’t start and finish the day with clean skin, nothing else you do will really matter all that much. It is worth investing in a very high quality cleanser, one that doesn’t strip your skin and dry it out, but allows you to start and end the day with clear skin that is ready for the other products you use or may need.
Next, invest in a superior moisturizer. Moisturizers are essential for skin care, and do more than just moisturize. A great moisturizer will help protect your skin from the environment, and control loss of moisture throughout the day. Make sure get one designed for your skin type – dry skin, oily, combination, or specifically designed for acne. A great moisturizer would be something like Dermalogica’s Skin Smooth or Active Moist – both superb products, depending on your skin type.
Last, no skin care plan should be without a sunscreen. Many products have a sunscreen in them, and they are also designed for specific skin types. If you are unsure about what to use, bring it up at your next appointment, or just send me a quick note.
If you want to sit down with me to discuss what products you are using, and optimize your at-home skin care routine, schedule a 30 minute consultation using my online scheduling tool above. It’s a $30 appointment fee, and if you book any of my one hour facials during that consultation I will apply your $30 towards the cost of the facial.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
